Jamie's 100 days - part one

Hanno and I have just returned from a trip to the Gold Coast. We were invited down there to celebrate Jamie's 100th day - a wonderful Korean tradition that celebrates our baby surviving his first 100 days.  In the old days many babies didn't survive so it's a useful reminder of how fragile and dependent our babies are.

Anyhow, I have a few things to do this afternoon and not really in the right frame of mind to write a post so I'll see you tomorrow, when I'll tell you about our celebration.

  3. Gosh 100 days has flown by so quickly. Won't be long and his little cousin will be born. How exciting for your family.

  4. It's been a 100 days already?? That went fast! What a lovely tradition and I am so glad that things have changed for baby mortality that such a ceremony is not needed now.But it is nice to keep up traditions. :-)
Hope a grand time was had by all....especially Jamie!

  5. Congratulations on the 100 days! Yes, I did enough work on early medieval coroners reports to appreciate the fragility of early childhood anywhere outside our century! (and here!)

  8. Hooray for Jamie. There's so much good stuff to celebrate.

Hello Rhonda. I wanted you to know that I am using my pineapple vinegar, and am still alive and kickin'. My results seemed weird and the whole process odd, at least compared to my previous kitchen experiences. Anyway, I mixed some of the vinegar with water, sugar, salt, Italian spice, and olive oil to cover sliced onions and cucumbers set in a jar in the fridge. Have been munching on that for a few days. It's yummy. Thanks for helping me feel brave enough to try this.

I've found some lye, and by the time I run out of soap and collect the other ingredients, should be brave enough to tackle soap.

So exciting. What will be next? Thanks for the knowledge and inspiration that you share.

    l,
